A 2 hour workshop for student athletes. In the first hour students will learn about the importance of stretching and warming up before practice, games and performances. Students will work in groups to list stretches that they already know and do to prepare for their specific sport. The participants will then come together and discuss yoga poses that match or are similar to the stretches they already do.
The final hour will then be dedicated to “doing the yoga.” We will incorporate the yoga poses used in
discussion, as well as a few more poses while we flow into yoga. This flow will be simple, and repetitive
to build strength, confidence, and improve their flexibility. Participants will learn about the benefits of
yoga both physically and mentally. Students will learn self confidence and see their strength and
dedication to being an athlete. Students will receive a you tube link for the flow that is created during
this workshop, for practicing at home.
